GFC has become one of our most requested treatments for hair thinning — a concentrated, blood-derived therapy that supports hair follicles without introducing anything synthetic into your scalp.
How the treatment works
A small blood sample is drawn and processed to extract and concentrate the growth factors naturally released by platelets, in a purified, cell-free form. That concentrate is then injected across the thinning areas of your scalp, where those growth factors are thought to support the follicle’s growth phase. A topical numbing cream is applied first to keep the injections comfortable.
Who responds best to GFC
GFC tends to work best on follicles that are miniaturized but not yet fully dormant — which is why earlier intervention in hair thinning generally has more to work with than long-established bald patches. A proper scalp assessment before starting confirms whether your specific pattern of thinning is a good candidate.
What the full process looks like
A typical plan involves an initial course of sessions spaced several weeks apart, with results building gradually over months rather than appearing immediately. Our full guide to GFC cost and timeline breaks this down in more detail if you’re planning ahead.
